As of October 2017, schools have the responsibility of publishing swimming data. This data should express how the children have met the National Curriculum expectations in KS2. By the end of Year 6 children should be able to:

Swim 25m

Use a variety of different strokes (breast stroke, back stroke, front crawl)

Be able to perform a self-rescue.

Our current swimming provision:

Children in both year 3 and 4 attend swimming lessons.  Year 4 has swimming lessons on Tuesday’s for two terms and Year 3 has swimming lessons for three terms.  We currently have 45 children in both year groups.

Year 5 swim for one term, normally in the autumn term. We have 45 in the cohort and swim weekly on a Monday afternoon.

Year 6 swim for one term, normally in the Spring/Summer term after SATS. We have 45 in the cohort. They will attend Wednesday mornings at Stewards Swimming pool for lessons.

Further improvement and development

With the increase of P.E premium, as of 2017/18. We are looking to invest in an additional swimming session, in the summer term, for children currently unable to swim. This session will include children from both Year 5 and Year 6.
